The competition is open to all medical students training in the UK and the topic is: ‘Reasons and resolutions for gender inequality amongst Cardiologists and Cardiology Trainees’

The winning essay will be published in the British Journal of Cardiology.

The winner will also receive a £50 Waterstones voucher and free admittance to the BCS Annual Conference in June 2023.  

To apply, please submit a 250 word abstract to wic@bcs.com with 'Medical Student Essay Prize' in the title of your email.

The WIC team will then shortlist a number of students to write a 2000 word essay.

The deadline for abstract submission is Friday 14 October, with the deadline for essay submission being Friday 4 November. Submissions received after these dates will not be considered.

The winner will be announced at the WIC conference in Manchester on 18 November.
